How to Calculate Calories
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) refers to the number of calories your body needs at rest to perform essential functions such as breathing, blood circulation, and digestion. It represents the minimum amount of energy required to keep your body functioning properly.

Active Metabolic Rate (AMR) refers to your BMR and your activity level together. It represents the number of calories you need to consume daily to maintain your current weight. For weight loss, you need to increase your physical activity or decrease the number of calories you eat.
There are mathematical equations used to estimate daily calorie needs and can help guide weight loss efforts by determining a calorie intake lower than the amount needed to maintain current weight.

The AMR provides you the means to figure out how many calories you either need to exclude or how many calories you need to burn through added exercise, to lose a specific amount of weight.

Therefore you would need to determine a caloric deficit to lose weight.
